The Yoga of Chocolate™: An Afternoon of Yoga & Ceremony

  • The Sanctuary Yoga Room Fort Worth, TX (map)

The Yoga of Chocolate: An Afternoon of Yoga & Ceremony Description

On both a physical and an energetic level our sacrum bone, our body's anatomical center, serves as a source of support for our heart. On our meditation cushions, we aim to stack our heart and head on top of a balanced sacrum, aligning the three chakras of our sacrum, our heart, and our head.

Also, on both a physical and an energetic level, cacao could be seen as a medicine for our heart. Cacao contains a compound called theobromine which is a vasodilator, meaning it increases the flow of blood from our heart to all of our internal organs, resulting in an expanded, or truly 'open-hearted', feeling. Cacao is also a powerful antioxidant, and is the only known food where you will find therapeutic levels of magnesium, potassium and the chemical Anandamide, aka the LOVE chemical. (In Sanskrit, Ananda is translated as ‘bliss’)

This can bring feelings of pleasure and euphoria and also plays a role in moderating pain perception and memory of pain as well as improving consciousness and creativity.

The first half of this event will focus on movement which will be geared towards opening up our hips and aligning our sacrum and heart. By preparing our bodies, we can better receive the medicinal and spiritual effects of the cacao. Cacao, when used with awareness, gives us time and space away from the busyness of the world & an opportunity to go on our own inward journey, reset intentions, and check in with the whispers of our heart's Desires.

**Parameters for this class include: the ability to get up and down off the floor without assistance, freedom from medical devices, and no active disc issues.

Contraindications: If you are on anti-depressants or anxiety medications, or have high blood pressure, or a history of chronic migraines, we ask that you contact Jyl before signing up for the ceremony so we can discuss whether the cacao work is right for you, or alternatives if it is not.
